He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Steffes and Katherine Steffes (Morgan); his parents-in-law, Herman and Ludvina Buechel (Freund); his stepmother-in-law Lucille Tetzke Buechel; his siblings, Eugene Steffes (Donna), Sylvin Steffes and Mary Ann Birschbach (Eugene); and his siblings-in-law, Elmer Petrie, Henry Birschbach, Ed Zingsheim, Herman Buechel Jr., Allen Buechel, Marilyn Schneider (Roger), Betty Stephanie (Lester) and Teresa Steffen.
He is survived by: his wife Joan Buechel; his children, Nancy Preder (Brian) of St. Cloud and Bob Steffes (Diana) of Wauwatosa; his grandchildren, Samantha Turley (Neil), Chaislyn Kretlow (Nate), Gabriel Preder, Fiona Steffes and Jasmine Steffes; his great grandchildren, William Turley and Nikolai Turley; his siblings, Dolores Petrie, Pat Birschbach, Judy Zingsheim, Joe Steffes (Raye Marie) and Vern Steffes (Gail); his friend Gene Burg; and his siblings-in-law, Diana Abler (Don), Joyce VerHaagh (Ron), Janet Buechel, Betty Buechel and Jack Steffen. He is also survived by nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
