He was predeceased by: his mother Kathryn Cowan (Thorstad); his wife Ellen Jeanine Schwartz; and his father Donald L. Cowan.

Due to new COVID-19, visitors can greet the family from their cars at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 2950 Chapel Valley Rd., Fitchburg, from 12 p. m. until 3 p. m. on Friday, July. 3, 2020. Burial will be private at Roselawn Memorial Park.
