Anna Kugel Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Anna Kugel (New Franken, Wisconsin), who passed away on April 22, 2018 at the age of 99. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Anna Kugel to pay them a last tribute.
She supported the "war-effort" traveling to Sturgeon Bay daily and did welding at Leathan D. Smith Shipbuilding Company as a 'Riveting Rosie". She later worked at Austin Straubel Paper Mill. Anna married Joseph Kugel from Pilsen on October 7, 1944. After returning from WWII, Joe and Anna purchase a small dairy farm in New Franken and later a 400-tree apple orchard. Anna farmed and milked the cows for thirty years. They raised three children, Mary, Julie and Kenny. Following the sale of the farm, Anna worked in food service at Parkview Nursing Home, Green Bay. Anna was a renaissance woman, among the first of her generation to drive a car. She was an active woman participating in numerous group activities, quilting and piecing hundreds of quilts for the "Missions" at St. Mary Church in Luxemburg. She knitted over fifty prayer shawl's for the St. Bernard Prayer Shawl Ministry, Green Bay; and would knit mittens and dish towels for St. Kilian Church and others who needed them. As a leader she held position in the St. Kilian Christian Women's Society, the Diocesan Vicarate and lead the New Franken Senior Group for years. She was a faithful daily Mass attender and worked the funeral lunches. Her hobbies included gardening, canning, sewing, quilting, needle work (hardanger, tatting, crocheting) and putting together numerous puzzle's. She is most known for her Belgian waffle and pie making. Anna loved family and visitors. Anna and Joe traveled to numerous locations often, visiting their daughter in the military in various location in European Countries. The highlight of travels was in 1978 when Ann and Joe drove to Alaska with their "pop up" camper for over six weeks. Anna also participated with a Diocesan youth mission, trip to Kentucky for nine days in 1998, cooking and sleeping in the church pew. Anna is survived by her daughter, Julie Radosavljevic, Green Bay; her son, Ken, CA; one granddaughter, Emily Radosavljevic, Europe; many nieces and nephews. Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; one daughter, Mary Kugel; son in law, Dragisa Radosavljevic; her parents, Louis and Mary Jadin; her siblings, Melvin and Matilda Jadin, Edward (Tillie) Jadin, Laura (John) Theys, Peter (Martha) Jadin, Florence (Art) VandenPlas, Lawrence (Laura) (Irene) Jadin, her father in law and mother in law, Joseph and Cecilia Kugel, brothers in law and sisters in law, Wencil (Helen) Kugel, Dorothy (Matt) Cherney, Frank (Helen) Kugel, Mary "Mamie" (Joe) Arvey, Jacob (Malinia) Kugel. Friends may call at the McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, 3:00 to 6:30 pm on Thursday, April 26, 2018. Parish prayer service 6:30 pm on Thursday with Cheryl Maricque. Visitation will continue between 10:00 and 10:45 am on Friday, April 27, 2018 at St. Kilian Church, New Franken. Funeral 11:00 am on Friday at the church with Rev. Dean Dombroski officiating.
