He was predeceased by: his parents, Jerry Berna and Lillian Berna; and his sister Susan Biersack. He is survived by: his siblings, Thomas, Michael Berna and Gail Berna-Dompke (Tony Dompke); his brother-in-law Robert Biersack; his nieces and nephews, Bella, Lilli, Jerry Dompke and Julie Biersack; and his cousin Sharon Wargin. He is also survived by other relatives and many friends.
