He was predeceased by: his wife Arabelle; his son Bernard; his grandson Michael; and his brothers-in-law, Ed and Dan.

He is survived by: his children, John Bernaden (Kathleen), Carol Palick (Grant), Betty Zerrien (Dave), Kathy Bernaden (Debbie) and Alex Bernaden III; and his sister Rose Barker. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorial gifts be directed to the Michael Bernaden Endowed Scholarship Fund at Marquette University.
