William Hastreiter Obituary
William Harold "Bill" Hastreiter, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on August 17th, 2024, at his residence in Neenah, WI. He died surrounded by family after a courageous battle with mesothelioma.
Born on December 27, 1949 in Syracuse, N.Y., to Harold George and Margaret Ann (Ley) Hastreiter. His mother died April 28, 1956, and his father died June 3, 1959. After the death of his parents, Bill and his siblings were raised by his aunt, Mrs. Marie J. Hansen in Marshfield, WI. He graduated from Sacred Heart Parochial School, Columbus High School in 1967, and obtained a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Marquette University in 1974.
Bill and his wife Kathy ran a private dental practice for 40 years in Berlin, Wisconsin prior to retirement in 2014. He ran his business with customer service at the forefront, always making clientele happiness a priority. During retirement he spent most of his time exploring the outdoors and felt blessed to serve as a park rover at Zion National Park, Utah.
Bill enjoyed downhill skiing, biking, and golf but loved spending time with his family the most. He will be remembered by his devoted and caring wife of 51 years, Kathy (nee Cross). Further celebrated by his loving children, Andy (Christy Stueve) Hastreiter, Brian (Katie) Hastreiter, and Katie (Ryan) Hoffmann. Adored by five grandchildren; Spencer Stueve, Savanah Hastreiter, Scarlet Hastreiter, Nathan Hoffmann, and Genevieve Hastreiter. Bill is survived by his brother Richard (Dolly) Hastreiter D.D.S, Hudson, Wisconsin, sister Mary (Dr. Gary) Smith, Bellingham, Washington, and brother Jim (Pam) Hastreiter, Beaverton, Oregon, along with countless cousins, nephews, nieces, dear friends, and close colleagues, and staff. He was proceeded in death by his sister Ann Marie Leitl and motherly Marie Hansen.
Family and friends may visit with the family on Monday August 26, 2024 from 4-6:45 p.m. followed by a rosary at 6:45 p.m. and also on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home of Berlin.
Funeral services will be held following the Tuesday visitation at All Saints Catholic parish of Berlin at 11:00 a.m. with Father Eric Nielson Officiating. For those not able to attend the service, it will be live streamed on the parish facebook page, https://www.facebook.com Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Berlin.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Bob Devermann, Dr. Hedy Kindler and Nurse Gairta, and Dr. Michael Thompson and staff. Also, the family would like to thank Compassus Hospice and Senior Stride Home Care for their diligent and compassionate care.
The family would ask memorials to be given to a charity of the donor's choice.
