He was predeceased by: his parents, George Swanson and Irmgard Swanson (Buehring); and his brother Jon Swanson. He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Cook; his children, Colleen, Marie and Thomas; his grandchildren, Kairi and Kyrian Pace; his siblings, Nancy Swanson, Steve Swanson (Eileen), Gary Swanson (Kim), Debbie Smith (Dick), Pam Olson (Jay), Mark Swanson (Pam), James Swanson (Penny Schuelke), Carla Thayer (Rick), Joan Terry, Kathy Justison (Mark) and Dawn Ortiz (Joel); his sisters-in-law, Julie Swanson and Kimberly Kennedy; his mother-in-law Carolyn Cook; his godchildren, Ben Olson and Amanda Schmelzer; and his close friends, Mark, Chris Schmelzer and Dennis Maney. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews; numerous cousins.
