He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Hartmann and Mildred Hartmann; his son Mark; his parents-in-law, Marge and Harvey Buss; and his siblings-in-law, Timmy Buss, Rodger Buss, Kenneth Buss, Emerson Black, Eileen Stewalt, Faye Krebs and Nancy Buss.

He is survived by: his former wife Jacqueline Buss; his wife Jackie; his children, Nancy Stevenson (Todd) and Patrick Hartmann (Claudia Arzeno); his grandchildren, Ashley Stevenson, Amber Otis (Nathan) and Mariana Hartmann; his great grandchildren, Madeline and Theodore Otis; his sister Sally Black; and his siblings-in-law, Terry Buss (Donna), Curt Buss (Janis), Philip Buss (Nancy), Carol Klug, Patsy Boyd, Phyllis Buss and Linda Buss. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Neenah, or to a charity of your choice in Sam's name.
