Harold Raugh wrote a sympathy message

“Mr. McBain was one of the adult leaders of Boy Scout Troop 76 in Oshkosh when his sons Jack and Mike were in the troop. I also had the privilege of learning from his level-headed mentorship and leadership from 1967 to the early 1970s in Troop 76. He said I passed the Tenderfoot review board in February 1968 "with flying colors." He personified the Boy Scout ethos and was a model for all Scouts. Mr. McBain was a decent and kind man. One cannot do better than that. With respect, Harold Raugh”
