He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Hellum and Christine Hellum (Breingsness). He is survived by: his wife Patricia Schmalfeldt (Carlson); his pet Honey; his children, Erik Hellum (Jennifer) and Suzanne Cowan (Jim); his stepsons, Don Schmalfeldt (Karen) and Brian Schmalfeldt (Kim); his grandchildren, Luke, Noah, Jordan, Cody, Houston, Abby (Art Miller IV), Jenna, Ashley and Teagen; and his brother-in-law Bill Carlson (Pat).
