He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Pontow and Olive Pontow (Cole); and his wife Mary Ann. He is survived by: his children, Lloyd Pontow (Gena), Lorraine Stachowicz, Lynn Selle (Lee) and Luann Rodriguez; and his grandchildren, Randi, Becky, Heather, Samuel, Sara, Nick, Alex, Rose, Kayla and Kurtis. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren; a sister, sisters-in-law, and a brother-in-law; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many special friends.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at Heckrodt Wetland Reserve.
