He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Susan; his children, Thomas Oakes, Kirsten Kasten (Brian) and Lisa Uttech (Joshua); his former spouses, Michelle Oglesbee, Margaret Oakes, Patricia Oakes and James Oakes (Brea); his mother Jeanne Mellen; his mother-in-law Jane Henke; his siblings, Pastor Dan Oakes (Deb), Theresa Cook (Curt) and Karen Kile (Steve); his father Donald Marvin Oakes Sr.; his stepfather Hank DeBruin; his father-in-law Pastor Howard Henke; his brother Robert Oakes; and his daughter Melissa Sue Oakes. He was also cherished by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church appreciated.
