He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Susan; his sons, Steven Henkel (Poppy Giron), Nicholas Henkel (Eileen) and Erik Henkel; his parents, Karen Henkel and Richard Henkel; his sibling Lynn Pettit (Philip); and his siblings-in-law, Mike Kalinowski (Louann), Barb Myszka (Jeff) and Eileen Falcone (Bob). He was also cherished by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

“I called cousin Dave in January. He shared being awake at night in his hospital room looking at the stars and feeling Gods presence with him. He was comforted and feeling peace. God called Dave home much sooner than expected. I know Dave had many plans for the summer, Dave did not want to leave his family at this time; he had to go. God must have wanted to protect Dave from something and brought him into the safety of his FOREVER home. See you when we are reunited in the Throne Room of Jesus.”
