She was predeceased by: her parents, Elmer Sr. Helm and Adelle Helm; and her siblings, Elmer Jr., Jerry, Chuck, Ken, Jim, Jack, Robert, Warren, Dale, David, Geraldine Sweeney, Shirley Bansemer and Barbara Lepsch.

She is survived by: her husband David Smitka; her sister Carol Rathsack; and her grandchildren, Jessica Neu (Bryan), Cory Carroll (Melissa), Nicole Stephens (Robert), Christine Tomich (Marko), Cody Nimtz, Jackson Nimtz, Dylan Smitka (Kira), Sabrina Smitka, Ben Sutton and Adam Sutton.
