Shirley Manion Was called home by her Lord and savior on February 22, 2025 at the age of 90. She is the loving wife of Wilson Manion of 70 years. They were united in marriage on August 21, 1955 in Cambridge, WI. She is the loving mother of Lynn (Kevin) Frame and Edward (Debra) Manion; proud grandmother of Jason (Sara) Frame, Adam Frame, Danielle (Chad) Nimke, Brian (Andie) Manion, Thomas (Morgan) Manion and Kathryn Manion; great-grandmother of Alyssa, Anthony, Keegan, Hope, Mack, Skye and Aiden. Shirley is further survived by her brother Edward (Linda) Melton, sister-in-law Gloria Melton, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded by siblings Donald, Lloyd (Barbara), Melvin, Clarence and Lillian.
Shirley was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on the earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God.
Shirley had many interests; including flowers, sewing, coin collecting, reading, animals, ancestry, coffee time, spending time with family, travel and music. She insisted that her children take piano lessons and always had a piano in the house. On Saturday mornings all activities stopped at 11:00 sharp so that she could watch BandStand.
As the lover of travel, she was the family trip organizer. Planning family vacations to Arizona, Florida, and a trip around Lake Michigan coming back on the Milwaukee Clipper. Shirley also organized trips to Hawaii and Las Vegas with her husband Wilson after the children had left the house.
She was born in Milwaukee and moved with her family to Cambridge, Wisconsin at an early age. Graduated from Cambridge High School in 1952 while working at the local dime store, and was married in Cambridge as well in 1955.
In the following years, she moved with her husband and children to several different Wisconsin cities including Waupun, Fond du lac and Manitowoc; eventually settling down in Cottage Grove Wisconsin where she worked as an HR assistant at Dairy Equipment company in Madison. And the commonality of each location was that she needed to stay in touch with her family and home town by receiving the Cambridge News wherever she was living.
Along the way Shirleys faith led her to church secretary at several locations around the state and teaching Sunday School. Her love of music led her to singing in the church choir each time.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the First Congregational Church (231 Roberts Dr., Mukwonago) from 10:00 AM until the time of the Memorial Service at 11:00 AM. Family burial will take place at a later date at Highland Memorial Gardens in Cottage Grove, WI.
