Melvin G. Barribeau Jr. Obituary
Melvin G. Barribeau Jr., loving husband, father, and grandfather, died in the comfort of his East Troy home on October 9th, 2024, at age 75. He was born on January 22, 1949, and raised by his loving grandparents Miles and Frances Faulds in Oconto, Wisconsin.
Mel is survived by his beloved wife Diane; daughters Dawn (Danny) Ahn and Amber (Paul) Hill; son Andrew (Miranda) Barribeau; Grandchildren Genevieve, Vincent and Olivia; and sisters Merijo Cleereman and Luann (Michael) Brunner. Also left to cherish his memory are numerous extended family and friends.
Two families became one when Mel married Diane Hodges on July 7th, 1979. In addition to his daughter Dawn from a previous marriage, he and Diane had two children, Amber & Andrew.
Before retiring, Mel was a dedicated truck driver with FedEx for over 30 years. During his long-standing career, Mel received commendations from both FedEx and the Sheriff's Department for helping save someone from a burning vehicle while on the job. As this is just one example of his kindness and willingness to help anyone in need, Mel was a man of integrity and had many attributes that will be greatly missed.
Throughout his life Mel really enjoyed fixing computers as he had a knack for technology in general. In his later years, he developed quite a passion for repairing small engines.
Priding himself on being the best "Pa Pa" he could, Mel's greatest love in life was being a grandparent. His grandkids filled his heart with pure joy, and he relished the few days a week he was able to babysit for two of them.
Mel was preceded in death by his grandparents Miles & Frances Faulds; parents Melvin and Muriel Barribeau; siblings Charmaine, Catherine, Karen, Richard, Patrick, and Vincent; brother-in-law John Hodges; and niece Korey Hodges.
A visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 15 at 4PM followed by a memorial service at 5PM at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home in Mukwonago (930 Main St).
