Janet F. Storck Obituary
Janet "Jan" Storck (nee Maitland), beloved wife of James "Jimmy" and loving mother of Chandra, found peace on January 4, 2025, at age 75.
Left to cherish Jan's memory is Jimmy, her devoted husband of over 50 years, adored daughter Chandra Breault, treasured grandchildren William and Samantha Breault, and dear brothers Steve and Tom Maitland. She will also undoubtedly be missed by her loyal dog Maveric.
Jan was born in 1949 to parents Ralph and Frances (nee Alexander) Maitland. She graduated from Watertown High School in New York in June of 1967, and in that same year joined the Navy. Jan served as a crash crew dispatcher at the Pensacola Naval Air Station until 1969.
Shortly after enlisting in the Navy, Jan met Jimmy, the love of her life, who was also serving. This is where their story begins without end, a love so strong that it transcends beyond this earthly life. They married in 1969 and gave birth to their only child Chandra in 1971. True to their nature and spirit of life, Jan and Jimmy converted a school bus into their living quarters and traveled the country from 1973-76 before settling in Delafield WI.
Throughout the years, Jan worked as a waitress, vet tech, and a dental assistant. Before retiring in 2016 she was co-owner and office manager of Storck's Tree Service, a business she and Jim created together in 1995.
Jan had many hobbies including breeding and showing both dogs and llamas, horseback riding, and running…she could run like the wind! She was also a collector of many things, most notably, Beanie Babies. Jan nurtured her love of animals and had as many as 26 at one time. She took great pleasure in training her beloved Maveric to be a therapy dog and volunteering at the local hospital.
In addition to her parents, Jan is preceded in death by her dear sisters Merrylyn Slate, Joyce Thomson, and Becky Carlton.
A visitation will be held from 1PM until the time of the memorial service at 3PM on Saturday, January 11 at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home in Mukwonago (930 Main St).
Military Honors will follow.
Memorials can be made to the Wisconsin Parkinson Association in Jan's name and will be greatly appreciated. https://wiparkinson.org "Her favorite place was her home with her family. She loved us so much and was happiest when we were all together.". -Chandra, Jan's daughter.
