He is survived by: his wife Katherine Schwenn (Nee Griswald); his sister Sharon; and his children, James Michel, Richard A, Dawn M, Kim M, Dale A Schneider and Julie Tilander (Nee Schwenn). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

In Lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
