She was predeceased by: her parents, George Schmear and Anna Schmear; and her brother Wilbur (James L. Shaffer). She is survived by: her sister Gladys Schmidt (Don) of Surprise, AZ; her children, Carol Moore, Barbara Higgins and James R. Shaffer; and her grandchildren, Ronald Higgins, Jeffrey Higgins (Shari), Douglas S. Moore (Laurie), David Moore (Daria), Benjamin Chabot (Christine) and Robert Chabot. She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren, also remembered by nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Iola's name to the Vernon Ev. Lutheran Church.
