Dave met the love of his life when he was a sophomore at UW Waukesha. They were married in 1969 before moving to Madison to finish their degrees. He graduated from UW Madison school of pharmacy in 1971. After internship, he was a pharmacist at Hoehle's Pharmacy in Waukesha until 1974, when he began his career at Miller Pharmacy in Mukwonago until he retired in 2015. During his 41 years at Miller Pharmacy, he was a proud pharmacist to over 28, 000 patients and their families, providing conscientious, empathetic, meticulous, and knowledgeable care.
Dave's extensive pharmaceutical knowledge aided physicians in the care of their shared patients. His wisdom and knowledge mixed with great professionalism made him a mentor to over 30 pharmacy student interns. He also mentored newly hired pharmacists at Miller Pharmacy throughout his career. Dave took pride in his continuing education, even after his retirement, and was a licensed pharmacist for 52 years.
Dave always loved sharing his humor, wisdom, anecdotes, and stories with everyone he encountered, including his "work wives and Pharmily" at Miller Pharmacy, and in the community.
Dave enjoyed studying the intricacies of watches and he was meticulous about his own. He always joked he had a PhD in Horology. He and Jan visited many countries in Europe, with their last adventure of a river cruise in France for their 50th wedding anniversary. He enjoyed creating "outsider art" drawings, hiking in the woods, reading, pharmaceutical articles, and playing games with his family.
Dave was a caring, kind, full of wisdom and laughter, type of father and grandfather. Sandy, Dave and Olivia shared many fun times with their Star Wars and Twister movie quotes, among many other movie scenes, relating them to everyday life. Dave had a zest for life and was in tune to many synchronicities that sometimes couldn't be explained. He loved his British mysteries, Saturday pizzas, Bamboo House, having in-depth conversations and being with his family and friends very much.
Dave's family would like to express their profound gratitude to the Mukwonago EMS, Waukesha Memorial Hospital ER Physicians and staff, Neurologic Physicians and staff, ICU and Hospice Physicians and staff, Froedtert Neurological ICU Physicians and staff, and Bell ambulance EMT/paramedics who cared for Dave during his medical emergency. His family also gives thanks to the many friends and neighbors who offered their support and love to them as Dave's condition deteriorated.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the UW Madison School of Pharmacy or Mukwonago EMS services would be greatly appreciated.
