He was predeceased by: his parents, Helmer Grinder and Olga Grinder (Oimoen); his wife Marion Jean Roach; and his siblings, Albert Grender, Ralph Grinder and Ethel Skalet.

He is survived by: his children, Steven Grinder and Susan Grinder; his grandchildren, Gregory Grinder, Jamie Grinder (Colin Bethke) and Sarah Sarbacker (Matt); his great grandchildren, Brett Grinder, Charles, Andrew, Adelyn Sarbacker and Blaine Bethke; and his sister Arlene Stark. He is also survived by cats in his cat.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family of Ernest to be designated at a later date.
