She was predeceased by: her parents, Leander Abler and Alfreda Abler (Michels); her husband Ken; her son Jamie Mertens; her grandson Robert Michael Heus; her sister-in-law Darlene Mertens; and her parents-in-law, Norman and Lyola Mertens.
She is survived by: her daughter Jody Heus (Bob); her grandchildren, Taylor (Josh Scott), Carson and Owen (Ashley Lisowe); her daughter-in-law Stacey Mertens; her grandchildren-in-law, Logan (Brianna) and Kaine (Sydney Lavey); her siblings, Kay Seibel (Bill), Susan Stephany (Joe), Michael Abler (Joannie) and Mary Joan Winkler (Mark); and her siblings-in-law, Dyanne Crowley (Sham), Joan Nickel (David) and Nick Mertens (Jane). She is also survived by other relatives and many friends.
In keeping with Sandra's spirit, the family will be providing flowers, memorials may be made in Sandra's name to Club 44 Foundation.
