He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Helen Szarkowitz and Joseph Szarkowitz; his wife Dorene (Rena); his daughters, Lisa Hanson (Pete) and Amy Walters (Rob); his grandchildren, Jacob Ostrowski, Jasmine Ostrowski and Jett Walters; and his siblings, Jean Senoraske (Paul), JoAnn Apland (Doug), Linda Fischer (Tom), Bill Szarkowitz, Bruce Szarkowitz (Kathy) and Alvin Szarkowitz.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in John's name for cancer research.
