He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Burmeister and B. Lillian Burmeister (Johnson); his wife H. Carol Hutchinson; and his siblings, Susan Parkinson and Bill Burmeister.

He is survived by: his children, Jackie Andrews (Carl) and Dick Burmeister (Cathy) of Warren, IL; his granddaughter Elizabeth of Lansing, MI; his siblings, Luan Beach (John), Marge Goldhagen (Joe), Mary Gille (Gene) and Lewis Burmeister (Connie); his sisters-in-law, Lindy Johnson (Bob) and Cathy Straight (Larry); and his stepgrandchildren, Keri Wolf, Shelly Andrews, Rhonda Andrews, Kari Coffey (Nick), Jason Hartzell (Chelsea) and Brandon Hartzell (Ashley). He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.
