He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Hessel and Louise Hessel (Shafer); his wife Mima Gregg; and his sisters, Gloria Williams (Stanley) and Karelyn Hessel.
He is survived by: his children, Karelyn Hopkins (Winston) of Monona, Stephanie Waddell (Jim) of Rockford, IL and Gregg Hessel (Melissa) of Lahaina, HI; his grandchildren, Emily, Audrey Hopkins, Caitlin Waddell, Noah, Sam and Isaac Hessel; his brother-in-law Stanley Williams (Dot) of Urbandale, IA; his nieces and nephews, Evelyn, Easton, Yorkie and Misty; and also Heather Faris (Shawn).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Monroe Kiwanis Club or Monroe United Methodist Church.
