He was predeceased by: his parents, John Thon and Mabel Thon; and his siblings, Marion Priest, Loretta Haack, Margaret Bluma, Agnes Heyde, Catherine Burns, John Thon and Robert Thon.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann; his children, Louis (Debbie), Amy (Bob) and Sara (Andy); his grandchildren, Liz, Will, Christopher, Daniel, Brian, Callie and Carter; and his siblings, Cecelia Globensky, Marcy McCully and Gerald Thon (Sharon).
