He was predeceased by: his parents, Erwin Thiet and Pearl Thiet. He is survived by: his wife Donna Thiet; his children, Darcie Elshoff (Gary), Drew Thiet (Marilyn) and David Thiet (Sheri); and his grandchildren, Jeffrey Elshoff (Traci), Kelly Rogers (Daniel), Brian Thiet (Alexa), Jennifer Hampel (Benjamin) and Mollie Thiet (Shaun Hanson). He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren.
