He was predeceased by: his wife Joanne Astin; and his brother Mac Astin. He is survived by: his children, Pam Herman (Larry), Mike Astin (Lori Rusch) and Brad Astin (Sharine Shinkay-Astin); his grandchildren, Kyle Herman (Aubrie), Kaleb Herman, Ian Astin, Adora Astin, Kole Herman, Allura Astin, Oren Astin and Arlene Rademacher; his children, Debbie, Brenda, Rick and Laurie; his siblings-in-law, Bill, Joyce Leopold and Bruce Haugen; and also Chrysler Corp. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Al's name or can be made out to Hope Lutheran Church.
