He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer and Gunda; his aunt Gertrude; his brother Paul; and his former wife Beverly.

He is survived by: his family, David Gregory (Greg), Stephen Paul (Steve) and Randi Kirsten; his child Garden; his wife Sonja; his children, Gregory (Kathy), Stephen, Randi Spencer-Berg (Matt) and Nathan; his stepdaughters, Laura Baade and Debra Garde (Jeff); his grandchildren, Aidan Spencer Sauze (Marie), Anna-Elisabeth Spencer, Kaj Spencer, Henry Nichols, Diana Bremmer (Matt), Stephanie Baade (AJ), Allison Greig (Jesse), Gavin Baade (Savannah) and Michael Garde (Jillian); his nieces and nephews, Sara, Kristian, Sigri, John, Solveig Berg, Paul and Marcia Enlow Berg; and also Bev.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Madison Christian Community Garden Program, to Harvest of Hope (which gives aid to farmers experiencing financial crisis), or the Epilepsy Foundation.
