He was predeceased by: his parents, George Bayer and Katherine Bayer (Motz) of Milwaukee; his siblings, Leonard Bayer, Leona Bayer of Milwaukee, Eleanor Crouse of Milwaukee and Lucille Heike of West Allis; his wife Catherine (Hanley) of Middleton; and his son-in-law Thomas Cheng of Edina, Minn..

He is survived by: his grandchildren, Kimberly Grove, Madison, Vanessa White (Corey), N. Y., D. C., Michael Cheng, Napa, Calif, Erica (Pavlos), Margeaux Ljungberg (Dirk), Meredith Bruhn (Adam) of Havelock, N. C. and Andrew Heaton of Havelock, N. C; and also, Mary Bayer Doidge (Jon), Monica Bayer Heaton (Gary) of Havelock, N. C., Martha Bayer of Sunset Beach, N. C., Susan Bayer Van Steen (Scott), Jeanne Bayer and Eden Prairie. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
