He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Dawes and Hazel M. Dawes; his grandmother Sholes; and his sister Mary Dawes Bulmahn. He is survived by: his son Joel; his sister Jo Ann Meyers (Jo); his grandchildren, Samantha, Sylvan, Mackenzie, Peyton Dawes, Brynnley Dawes, Brock Dawes and Cole Miszewski; and also, John Meyers, Morry and Jana Meyers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family or the American Heart Association.
