He was predeceased by: his parents, James Boyer and Barbara Boyer (Brekke); his uncle Bob Boyer; and his friend Lee Weir. He is survived by: his spouse Kris Cogar-Scheffler; his daughter Kenzie Boyer; his siblings, Kris Pitcher and Jeff Boyer; his aunts, Kathy Retzki (Cooky) and Pat Boyer; and his uncle Paul Boyer. He is also survived by niece and three nephews.
