He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Spahn and Josephine Spahn (Wagner); his son William "Bill"; his grandson Matthew Williams; his siblings, Melvin (Bertha), Leonard Spahn, Theresa Acker (Vincent) and Rosina Niesen (Frank); and his in-laws, Alphonse Ziegler (Elizabeth), Evelyn "Evie" Ziegler (Werner) and Clem Ziegler.
He is survived by: his wife Betty; his children, Leo (Kathy), Louie (Rita), Jean Greiber (Jim), Ken (Judy), Judy, Janet Boruff (Scott), Jackie Williams (Brad), Joan Smothers (Tony), Joe (Jenny), Jason (Amy) and Jill Abegglen (Craig); his siblings-in-law, Barbara Brouner, Elaine Acker (Harry), Tony Ziegler (Elaine), Mary Ann Sveum, Pat Thielman (Dan) and Larry; and his nephews, John Ziegler and Michael Brouner. He is also survived by 29 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
