He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Smith and Miriam Smith (Butler); his wife Rosemary Smith; his stepgranddaughters, Kerri Payne and Kristy Smith; his brother Claire Smith (Catherine); his niece Monica Smith Brehmer; and his nephew Thomas Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Lisa Carlson (Andrew) of Merrill and Michael H. Smith (Carol) of La Quinta, California; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Andy, Breana, Ricky and Michael; his sister Marilyn Seuntjens of Mapleton, Iowa; and his close friends, Steve and Marsha Skogen. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
