He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewey Edward and Alma Emma Purath; and his daughter Cynthia. He is survived by: his children, Michael Thiel (Jayne), Roy T. Thiel (Laurie), Linda Berlin (Greg) of Merrill, Jenny Mueske (Tim) of Merrill and Lisa Hinz of Tomahawk; and his sister Virginia Saltzman. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren.
