She was predeceased by: her parents, Norman Jacobson (Jake) and Phyllis Jacobson of Irma; and her husband Gary Van Der Geest. She is survived by: her son Lee Van Der Geest (Katie); her close friend Jason Mell; her daughters, Amy Butler (Jeff) of Cosby, MO and Beth Gwaltney (Gabe) of Willow Springs, MO.; her brother David Jacobson (Sandy) of West Bend, WI; her grandsons, Koy, Kyan Van Der Geest of Merrill, Gunner and Gatlin Gwaltney of Willow Springs, MO.; and her parents-in-law, Gerrit "Chub" and Eleanor Van Der Geest (Gary). She is also survived by her sister and brother in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 6th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, January 7th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 7th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church (5304 N 44th Ave, Wausau, WI 54401). A burial was held on Tuesday, January 7th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Maple Grove Cemetery (5355 Naugart Dr, Merrill, WI 54452).
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials to: Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services Fund which has a non-profit foundation for the care of hospice patients.
