He was predeceased by: his parents, John J. Hommerding and Pauline M. Hommerding (Mosser); his wife Lois Hommerding; and his brother Elmer Hommerding. He is survived by: his sons, Steven Hommerding (Nancy) of Gleason, WI and James J. Hommerding of Sun Prairie, WI; his grandchildren, Kelli Burbach (Josh), Jon Hommerding (April), Michael Hommerding and April Hommerding; and his great grandchildren, Rylee, Cameron and Archer.
