He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Sr. Henkelman and Margaret Henkelman (Raasch); his wife Gerda Grosskurth; his siblings, Lawrence Henkelman (Marianne) and Esther Dittmar; and his siblings-in-law, Irmgard Bunge (Ervin), Ernest, Werner and Siegfried Grosskurth.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Jaime Gooden (TJ), Dana Woller (Eric), Lauren Henkelman (Matt Clawson), Cheyenne Caldwell, Katelynn DeLosh, Kurtis DeLosh, Cole Henkelman (Ally Geurink) and Wyatt Howard; his great grandchildren, Allison, Caleb, Jayden, Evan, Nora and Zach; and his siblings-in-law, Karl Grosskurth (Janice), Thea Lee and Rosemary Grosskurth. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
