He was predeceased by: his parents, Gene and Marlene; his wife Marlene; and his siblings, Caroline and Bob.
He is survived by: his son Gene Jr.; his daughter-in-law Lynn; his sons, Eugene Jr Essert (Lynn) and Jay Essert; his stepsons, Scott Gipple (Sandy) and Randy Gipple (Jodi); his grandchildren, Lindsey (Logan), Amanda (Travis), Michael, Amber (Ivan), Stacey, Dana (Rob), Lea (Aaron), Karissa, Kasi (Kurt) and Kody (Leah); his great grandchildren, Lexia Grace, Madison Grace, Jordan Grace, Jayden Grace, Rowan Grace, Merida Grace, Lunayah Grace, Konner Grace, Lola Grace, Evie Grace, Tate Grace, Willow Grace, Laney Grace and Marlene Grace; his siblings, Judy of Barbara, Josephine and Bill; his sister-in-law Donna Caylor; his friend Matt Boyle; and also, Gene and Sophie. He is also survived by his son took him on a pontoon ride on Long & Bass Lake to visit some friends.
