He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Dittmar and Dorena Dittmar (Jaeger); his son-in-law Phillip Mattson; his siblings, Edward, Gerald, Janice, Marjorie and Shirley; his fathers-in-law, Raymond Madden and Harry Tritten; and his friend Dawn Herdt.
He is survived by: his former wife Esther Henkelman; his children, Dawn Mathis (Roger Williams) of Merrill, Diane Dittmar of Merrill, Darlene Mattson of Merrill, Dean Dittmar, Doug Dittmar and Dale Dittmar (Lynette); his grandchildren, Arnie Mathis (Jennie), Robert Mathis, Heidi Mathis, Kip Kreager (Sarah), Kyle Kreager (Keith), Brad Dittmar, Christy Lopez (Christian), Brandon Clark (Michelle Smith), Brittany Dittmar (Tyler Grams) and Mitchell Dittmar; his great grandchildren, Devon, Casius, Finn, Malakai, Callum, Gabriella, Alexia, Declan, Sequoyia, MaKenna, Kelsy and Makaiah; his siblings, Donald 'Fuzzy' Dittmar, Doris Madden and Ethel Tritten; his brother-in-law Frank Tritten; and his friend Albert Herdt.
In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials be directed to the Never Forgotten Honor Flight in Earl's name.
