He was predeceased by: his parents, LeRoy Rice and Phyllis Rice (Hoffman); his father-in-law Bill Stephany; and his niece Phyllis Jo Rice. He is survived by: his former wife Cherie Barttelt; his grandchildren, Carson Mahn, Avree Weber and Macy Athanasiou; his wife Kay (Stephany); his daughters, Lora Bladow of Wausau and Ashley Weber (Jeff) of Merrill; his stepsons, Steve Athanasiou (Amber) of Medford and Matt Athanasiou (Melanie Munsey) of Chicago; his grandchildren, Gage Weber and Bryce Athanasiou; and his siblings, Cheryl Coyer (Richard), Dennis Rice (Janella), Patsy Baguhn (Gary), Mary Kay Lezotte (Steve) and Wayne Rice (Jenny). He is also survived by 9 nieces and nephews, 7 great nieces & nephews and a great niece & great nephew.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church or Wheel-Em-In.
