He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Downing and Alma Downing (Bessey); his former wife Elizabeth Peterson (Betty); his children, Arthur "Bud" Downing and Nancy Beth Laabs; his wives, June Nelson (Severt) and Mildred Moore (Smith); his son-in-law Myron Laabs; his stepson Roger Nelson; his stepson-in-law Patrick "Pat" Priebe; his grandsons, Jon and Craig Downing; his great grandchild Sidney Laabs; and his half-siblings, Hazel Ruprecht (Behrens), George Behrens, William "Bill" Yankowski Downing, Delmar "Dell" Yankowski and Raymond Yankowski.
He is survived by: his stepdaughter Nancy Ann Priebe (Nelson); his stepgrandchild Chris Downing; his sons, Ted Downing (Marian), Tim Beppler (Katie) and Chris Downing; his stepdaughter Nancy Ann Nelson (Priebe); his brother-in-law Theodore "Ted"; his daughter-in-law Karen Downing; his stepdaughter-in-law Mari Nelson; and his niece Judy Young (Downing). He is also survived by grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great- grandchildren, great-great grandchildren.
