He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Swearingen and Phyllis Swearingen; his siblings, Elaine Swearingen Foote and Keith Swearingen; and his son Rick DeCarlo.

He is survived by: his daughter Candee DeCarlo; his siblings, Mary Swearingen (Ken Stienke) and Darrell Swearingen (Carol); and his aunt Winona Walters. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Mercer High School Sports Program.
