He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Scheffer and Clara Scheffer (Fassbender); and his wife Doris Kier of Eau Claire. He is survived by: his children, Donna Platner (Tim) of De Pere, Mark Scheffer (Barbara Miller) of Middleton, Charles Scheffer (Jane) of Colgate and Debra Rizzo (Mike) of Brighton, Michigan.; his grandchildren, Megan Borchardt (Lee), Katie Cerda (Francisco), Erin Platner, Kelly Platner, Andrew Scheffer (Megan), Lucas Scheffer, Brianna Scheffer, Piper Arp (Mike) and Blaire Bancroft; his great grandchildren, Francine, Gabriel Cerda, Oliver Scheffer and Luna Arp; and his former wives, June O'Leary and Ruth Harden.
