He was predeceased by: his parents, Adam Garthus and Agnes Garthus; and his wife Ann Nelson. He is survived by: his children, Nels Garthus (Kerry) of Port Washington and Tia Garthus of Sun Prairie; his grandchildren, Sydney and Graham Garthus; and his siblings, Suzanne Asplin (late Ted) of Dassel, MN, Rolf Garthus (Barb) of Amherst, WI and Bonnie Garthus of Dassel, MN. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to Elk Creek Lutheran Church, Westby-Coon Prairie Lutheran Church, or Norskedalen Nature & Heritage Center in Coon Valley, WI.
