Brenda Sue Quick Obituary
Brenda Sue (nee Ziegelbauer) Quick, a beloved woman of unwavering Catholic faith and boundless generosity, was born on November 29, 1961 and left us far too soon on March 3, 2024.
Brenda was born in Hartford, WI to the late Charlene (nee Eiche) and Ralph Ziegelbauer. Throughout her childhood there, she was known for her joyful personality and athletic prowess, along with being a caring listener and friend to many. After graduating from the UW - Oshkosh nursing program in 1985, she began what became a 35-year career as a dedicated labor and delivery nurse at Aurora Sinai Medical Center in Milwaukee. Along life's path, Brenda married a Hartford guy, Patrick Quick, in September 1989. They settled in Mequon where they raised three children, Bridget (Erik) Fillner, Aubrey and Conor.
Brenda is also survived by her sister Terry (M.J.) Ziegelbauer, grandson Kane who has a sister on the way, mother-in-law Vivian Quick, in-laws Tracy and Chris Lindsay, Joanne and Geoff Blaesing and Mary Reinders and Paul Quick, along with many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Giving unconditional love to others came as second nature to Brenda. For those who had the pleasure of knowing her and benefiting from this trait, her absence will leave an immeasurable void. She had tremendous empathy and did not judge. Brenda treated everyone with care, dignity, respect and inclusivity. Friends of her children regularly thought of her as a second mom, as did her nieces and nephews. Brenda loved to use her creativity to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary such as for parties, school events and other gatherings. Decorating for every holiday was important, and with her artistic talents, she delivered in a big way. She topped it off with Christmas magic, going up the ladder to hang nearly 500 ornaments on a massive tree.
We will honor Brenda with a visitation on Saturday, March 9, at Lumen Christi Catholic Church, 2750 W. Mequon Road, Mequon (please note that the northbound I-43 exit to Mequon Road is closed; exit at Port Washington Road), from noon to 1:45 PM, with a Celebration of Life beginning at 2 p.m. (bright and colorful attire is encouraged as we all know she would appreciate that). In lieu of flowers, donations to the following charities are welcomed: Lumen Christi Catholic Church, Mequon-Thiensville Education Foundation, Girls on the Run Southeastern Wisconsin, Notre Dame School of Milwaukee and CLL Society Inc. Also, we can best honor her by leading with a spirit of selfless generosity, seeking to understand and care for others as she did.
