He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Smalley and Ella Smalley; and his siblings, Roy Smalley, Ruth McAndrews, Norm Smalley and John Smalley.
He is survived by: his wife Helen Gerdes; his children, Dennis Smalley (Joyce) and Laura Reisinger (Robb); his siblings, Jim Smalley (Nancy), Gene Smalley (Helen) and Doris Pippert; his grandchildren, Robin Adams (Martin), Ryan Smalley (Mel) and Randi Strangstalien (Joel); and his great grandchildren, Aloni, Amaya, Ashton Adams, Bentley Smalley, Nick Fellegy, Lyla and Arthur Strangstalien.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Stout Foundation towards a memorial scholarship being established in his name.
