Steven J. Licitar Obituary
Went Home to the Lord on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at the age of 76. Beloved husband of Terry (nee Foster) of 58 years. Loving father of Becky (Timothy) Schneider and Sheri (Darin) Jones. Cherished grandfather of Cody (Stephanie McMahon) Schneider, Stephen Schneider, Maggie Pate and Madeleine "Madi" Jones. Dear brother of Donna (the late Bruce) Jordan, Kathy (the late Larry) Earl and Carol (Rick McGlynn) Martin. Brother-in-law of Lyle Elske, Linda Foster Mattice, John (Ashley) Foster and Mathew (Dawn) Foster. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his sister Louise Elske and parents Steve and Betty (nee Jensen) Licitar.
Whether work or play, Steve enjoyed being outside. Born and raised on a farm, he was often up and outside early working in the barn and the fields.
When he entered high school, little did he know that he would meet his soul mate. All he did was say yes to a Sadie Hawkins dance & that lead to what would be 58 years of marriage and 2 lovely daughters.
After high school Steve and Terry moved to Richfield and Steve started working in his uncle's excavating business. Knowing that he would never enjoy working for someone else, he took over the business in 1981 and successfully ran it for 40 years. You could always find him digging a basement or grading a lot on his bulldozer in the spring summer and fall, always trying to get that last job in before winter hit. Once winter hit he didn't sit by idly. On the contrary, he would plow snow for the Town of Richfield whenever duty called.
Steve was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He loved to bow hunt and could sit in a tree for hours waiting for the right one to come by. He loved to fish and you always knew by the look on his face when he got one as he would grin from ear to ear. He canoed, kayaked and snowmobiled whenever he could get away.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 9 from 2:30PM until time of Funeral Service at 5PM at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home – Menomonee Falls; N84 W17937 Menomonee Ave. Steven will be privately laid to rest at Spring Grove Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Steven's name to Wisconsin Alzheimer's Institute (https://wai.wisc.edu) are greatly appreciated.
