Stanley D. Larson Obituary

Stan Larson, 93, of Menomonee Falls, passed away on July 13, 2024. Into his nineties, Stan kept the pedal to the floor, kept the tires hot, kept faith in our country, and kept a deep love for Jesus. A dedicated husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, he will be greatly missed.

Stan was born on January 30, 1931, to Ross and Alice (Schafersman) Larson in Hooper, Nebraska. The Larsons moved to Oregon, Wisconsin, and Stan graduated from Oregon High School in 1949.

In 1951, Stan enlisted in the US Air Force and served proudly in the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in January 1955, having earned the rank of Airman Second Class.

Patricia (Christensen), the love of Stan's life, became his wife at St. John's Lutheran Church in Oregon, Wisconsin on June 4, 1955. They were married 69 years and blessed with three wonderful children: David (Michelle), Lori (Jeff) Ross, and Julie (Tim) Yauck.

Not only did Stan's quick-wit and smile brighten your day, his career in the paint and wallpaper industry brought deep hues to the world. Stan started working as a union painter for his father and went on to become a salesman for Mautz Paint Company in Rockford, Illinois. In 1979, Stan and his son David opened Larson's Paint and Wallpaper in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. Their company grew to four locations throughout greater Milwaukee.

Avid antique automobile enthusiasts, Stan and Pat were prominent members of the Wisconsin Chapter Model A Club, Model A Ford Club of America (MAFCA) and Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA). If given the opportunity, he'd kindly ask you how many miles were on your car and then tell you of the 77, 000+ miles he and Pat put on their 1931 Ford Model A Pickup, with a big smile on his face. He'd also share his love of the Iola Old Car Show and their outstanding staff.

Proud patriots, Stan and Pat supported the American Legion and Stars and Stripes Honor Flight. Recently, Stan and Pat sponsored a showing of the movie Devotion, based on Stan's favorite book, at the Rivoli in downtown Cedarburg. He would ask virtually anyone he met, "I've got a question for you: have you ever heard of the book called Devotion?".

Stan is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mary Jane (Leonard) Szarzynski. Stan is survived by his brothers James (Caryl) Larson and Jerry (Carolyn) Larson, his children, his grandchildren Christopher (Ashley) Larson and Caleagh (Thomas) Pranica, and his great grandson Bennett Blair Larson.
