Rodney C. Emmerich Obituary
Of Menomonee Falls, passed away unexpectedly on December 30, 2024 at the age of 84.
Rod was born on March 2, 1940 in Mosinee, Wisconsin to James and Elva (Halla) Emmerich. After graduating from Mosinee High School, he earned his undergraduate degree in education from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and graduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He taught at Wauwatosa East High School for 30 years, inspiring students with his love of biology. It was there that he met his dear wife of 56 years, Gwen. They were married on December 20, 1968 at Wellington Park Lutheran Church in Milwaukee.
Rod enjoyed spending time with his family and relaxing at his cottage in Amberg. He loved nature and animals, especially dogs. In his later years, he rarely missed a morning at the Tri County YMCA and enjoyed keeping track of happenings in his neighborhood. He was known for his warm smile, kind heart, great sense of humor, and love of trivia.
Rod will be deeply missed by Gwen; his children, Jennifer (Adam) Bestor and Douglas Emmerich; his grandchildren, Ellie and Noah; his siblings, Arden (Donna) Emmerich and Marita Wagner; his brothers- and sister-in-law, Don Promer and Karen (Sheldon) Thon; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and twin sister, Rachel Promer.
In lieu of formal services, the family requests that loved ones and friends remember Rod in their own way. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wisconsin Humane Society.
